If a picture's worth a thousand words, a 1 second animation is worth at least 24,000. Unless it's animated on twos, I guess.

I just asked one of my professors if he'd be willing to work with me on an independent study next semester, where I'd be making animations of cellular processes. His response?

"That would be the most awesome thing ever! I'd love to help you with that!"

I'm feeling pretty good about this.

I've been meaning to post a whole long post about what's going on in my life (mostly a lot of awesomeness and even more stress...yay college), but instead I'll just share this link that my modmate just showed me: Online gamers crack AIDS enzyme puzzle.

Okay, time for homework now. Or maybe a nap and then homework.

Haven't checked out the actual study yet, but this was nice to read: No Surprise for Bisexual Men: Report Indicates They Exist

The article also linked to the original study on PubMed, which is pretty awesome: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21763395

I still have a problem with the assumption that a guy's genital arousal in response to visual porn is a more reliable indicator of his sexual orientation than his self-reported experience/identity/arousal. The only evidence that I've seen for this is the fact that usually genital arousal and self-reported sexual orientation match up pretty unambiguously in men, which doesn't actually tell you what's going on when they don't match up. If anyone knows of other, more conclusive research justifying (or debunking) this assumption, I'd love to see it.

Probably this is only funny because I'm a weird mood, but I just got an email from one of my professors with the subject: WHERE ARE YOU??

It seems she sent out the email at the beginning of class. Apparently, 6 people were missing. From a class with 11 students. (I had told her before that I wouldn't be there, but no one else had mentioned anything.)

I don't know if it's the fact that the one day I miss class, everyone else does too, or the mental image of her sitting there 10 minutes into class, frustrated and annoyed, sending out the email, or just the fact that I didn't sleep last night and today has been deeply annoying and I just need to let off steam, or what. But I laughed when I read it.

Hey look! I think I can feel my toes again!

"Under certain conditions a potential offspring is expected to disagree with its parents over whether it should become a male or a female."

This sentence made me smile, for reasons that have nothing to do with whatever the hell Trivers is going on about.

I do not approve of the amount of homework I'm supposed to do over break.
